Prima Antique Black Ironwork is manufactured by craftsmen adopting the skills of a by-gone era. All of our products are hand-cast and hand finished, something unique in the modern world we live in today. However, old meets new when it comes to the finish. Once the casting has been through an annealing process, an ultra modern rust deterrent and paint is applied, resulting in a product of extreme elegance and durability that will enhance the beauty of any home whether it is a period property or modern residence.
As each item is hand cast and
hand finished, these outstanding items will not only enhance your home
but they will endure a lifetime of daily use and prove to be a sound
investment in your homes future.
Care of Prima Antique Black Ironwork
The black finish, by tradition, calls for matt paint which in its natural form is slightly porous. The finish may be maintained by dusting with a soft cloth or fine camel hair brush, together with a periodic wipe with a lightly oiled cloth.
Exterior
If the item is fitted externally follow the above
mentioned cleaning instructions, increasing the frequency of wiping with a
lightly oiled cloth. This should resist the harmful elements likely to cause
corrosion. After prolonged exposure to atmospheric conditions it may be
necessary to repaint the article. This can be done in accordance with
manufacturers instructions of any suitable exterior paint. The definition of
prolonged exposure will vary from weeks to years depending on the climate in
your region and the susceptibility to chemical emissions within the atmosphere.
Although paint breakdown may seem to be detrimental to the article it must be
emphasised that if the above is followed you may expect to maintain its
original appearance for many years.
